Drive to Peninsula State Park and hike along the Eagle Trail, where you will see the shores of Lake Michigan, sunny green patches of land in the shelter of massive birch and oak trees. Wear your hiking shoes because it can be treacherous, but walking in the shade of the Niagara Escarpment is lovely. Pack a lunch and eat along the way, just make sure to take your garbage with you when you finish!
Door County’s natural beauty is second to none. Buy a simple set of acrylic paints and canvases, grab a lawn chair and sit in one of the fields full of Queen Anne’s lace in the summer or golden fall harvest on a clear day and do your own plein art painting as a sweet memory of your visit. You could also take awesome photos along the way, bring them home and try painting your memories at home if you want to develop some new hobbies. Even with COVID-19, you can have an adventure at your fingertips… just get creative!
