Things We Love: Spanish Olive Oil Pitcher

The perfect container for olive oil, for the modern kitchen.

When Covid-19 started, I was cooking more than ever. Like many of our readers I normally I cook dinner 4-5 days a week with a few lunches thrown in here and there. Now however, it seems that I cook 7-days-a-week and a min of 2 meals a day! It was during this season of endless cooking that I quickly noticed that the glass container I was using for olive oil tipped easily, was hard to clean, and difficult to fill. I needed a replacement and maybe even a treat for myself.

Ever since my husband and I spent 2 weeks in Spain, I have been obsessed with Spanish kitchen things. Clean, modern and functional seems to be the description for everything I find. My apartment is clean and modern so it’s a match made in heaven.

I started shopping around. I did not want something cutesy with writing on the outside or Italian pottery (I had that in a prior home). But I did want modern and sleek. It should remind me of the home stores I love like Parachute and Room & Board. It needed to be something someone in Spain would have next to their Jamon! I looked at this one from Terrain and then some on Amazon.com.

I ultimately settled on this Spanish oil pitcher in, stainless steel from Schoolhouse. I could not be happier. While $46 may seem high, it’s sleek, protects the oil from heat and light, pours gracefully and holds a huge bottle of oil (it’s very deceiving). I think what I love the most about it is that the pour is so smooth. Use a lot or just a drop either way you have perfect control and no air bubbles.
