Day-trip: North Fork, Long Island Wineries

Plenty of the wineries serve snacks. However, they are not much more than pretty cheese plates or light bites. My suggestion is to enjoy lunch at either Love Lane or A Lure Chowder House. If you feel up to it and you are staying overnight, I highly suggest you drive further east and eat in Greenport. There are many amazing restaurants to try under better conditions.

Many vineyards have outdoor tables which are perfect for a picnic lunch & glass of wine

Our Favorite Wineries:

We typically do 1-3 vineyards per trip. We like to try new ones as well as old favorites depending on the time of year and what time we leave if going for the day. If you can’t make the trip, all of the vineyard below ship throughout the US. Feel free to order a few bottles create your own tour and tasing at home!

Clovis Point Vineyard & Winery Address: 1935 NY-25, Laurel, NY 11948. Phone: (631) 722-4222. Scott and I like their reds and they have a very pretty tented area off the tasting room if it’s a rainy day. Their wines are Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. Currently, they are open for outside seating by reservation only to the pandemic. Make sure to call ahead.

Macari Vineyards Address: 150 Bergen Ave, Mattituck, NY 11952. Phone: (631) 298-0100. The vineyard is owned and operated by three generations of the Macari Family. Macari was always a favorite of my late friend Kim and her husband John. I would describe their red wines as perfect for everyday and great with pizza or Pork Arrabbiata Their wines are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Rose, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Currently, they are requiring reservations at their Mattituck location but you can also pick-up.

Pellegrini Vineyards Address: 23005 Main Rd, Cutchogue, NY 11935 Phone: (631) 734-4111 Bob Pellegrini and his wife Joyce were one of the original pioneers in the Long Island wine community. Their wines are some of the best on the North Fork. Their wines are Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The tasting room is tight and the majority of seating is outdoors. If it’s a rainy day this might not be a good choice. But on a bright sunny day this fall it’s a great choice as they have ample seating outside in the their courtyard. Their website does not indicate you need a restoration at this time. I suggest you call ahead and make sure.
