Things We Love: Day/Won x Megababe Leggings

My review of the Megababe bright orange and sky blue leopard leggings made for women with curves.

In April of this year I joined Obé Fitness and made a commitment to myself to work out more. As we move into fall I was looking for a new pair of leggings to work into my wardrobe rotation. I stumbled upon Day/Won Megababe leggings after watching Kate Sturino’s Instagram story. She was wearing her matching Day/Won x Megababe leopard leggings and matching top and walking outside talking about her new venture.

For those who know me, I have curves. I am a size 10/12 and pretty much have been this way my whole life. For this story I wanted to test drive the leggings made for curvy women and understand if they fit well or were all show.

My review:

Let’s tackle the good first: the patterns are fun and whimsical. I love the leopard but the stars are cute too. The material is not itchy but smooth and has snap. The leggings have a high waist and it definitely holds you in. Even better is that the high waist does not dig in when you sit on the couch or do floor work during a class.

What I don’t love: the interior black lining has white stitching. In my opinion it makes it feel cheap. I would have preferred black stitching which would look more appropriate to the price. ($79, not quite Lululemon but not Target or Walmart pricing either). The other drawback is that they are somewhat see through so if you are someone who likes to go commando, then you definitely need to wear something underneath.

If you are not familiar with Kate Sturino, she’s awesome! A funny, writer and entrepreneur who also just happens to be plus sized. (She’s also from Wisconsin!) Everything she wears and does she is about feeling good about yourself. Her brand Megababe sells at Target, Anthropologie as well as through her own website. But no matter what she does, Kate simply embodies the notion of owning it. Just watch a few of her Instagram stories and you will understand.

Liz and I are huge fans of female-founded businesses. You will see us continue to promote women founded and owned brands going forward. Day/Won is founded by Candice Huffine, the supermodel. She developed the brand when she realized that there were few options for athletic women who were larger than a size 10. Her partnership with Megababe founder Katie Sturino further confirms there is a real need for products for ‘curvy’ women.
